During the summer of 2015, I decided that I’d had enough. I was recovering from my seventh hip surgery and faced yet another wall in the recovery process. For years I’d been prescribed medication and physical therapy to treat my hip pain. My leg was covered in surgical scars. It seemed that no matter how closely I followed my post-operative rehabilitation plan, things just weren’t going to get better.
I was tired of running from appointment to appointment and decided it was time to try something new. Something natural. A few women at my church were holding a class about essential oils, so I showed up eager to soak in the knowledge. There was a lot of talk about staying “above the wellness line.” Which basically means that they couldn’t prescribe oils to treat specific ailments. It means a lot of vague talk rich with generalizations.
At first it was frustrating. “Just tell me what oils to use to help me feel better. That’s all I want.” And they couldn’t give it to me. All they could do was provide me with the tools and encourage me to do my own research. What started off as frustrating turned into something incredibly empowering. And it became clear to me that this was bigger than me seeking a cure to the pain in my hip.
Essential oils set me on a journey toward wellness. I now have access to methods of healing the pain far beyond that which is in my hip. Using essential oils gives me a sense of empowerment regarding my health. I’ve even discovered a new set of friends who have become pillars in my support network; a bonus win, if you will.
The last thing I want to be is one of those crazy Facebook friends who won’t stop talking about the products in her network marketing gig. So I try to keep things low key. But essential oils have become a big part of my life; a good part of my life. And it’d be pretty selfish of me to keep that to myself.
I’m not about selling product, I’m about improving wellness. I want to help you and your family journey toward healing and wholeness of mind, body, and soul.
